This 18"x24" Black Bear Cubs poster is a once in a lifetime photo of 2 black bear cubs who have climbed a dead tree just off the Going to the Sun Highway. Although shot from quite a distance the photo picks up the expression of the scared cub and even picks up a touch of sparkle in his eye. Here are the comments of the photographer Paul A. Spade:
"I saw a backup of cars ahead of me on the Going to the Sun Highway which can mean there might be a photographic opportunity ahead. So I started looking around to see what it might be. I saw the two cub bear high up in a dead tree and grabbed my camera to see if I could get a shot. As I was driving I changed my lense to a 400mm lens before I got to the slow traffic. They were moving us right along but I fired off about 20 shots as we moved along. This is one of those shots!"
Although wildlife is abundant in Glacier National Park, the animals are much more easily spooked than in parks like Yellowstone. A shot like this one might be a once in a lifetime opportunity!
